Calgary Housing Market ready for spring
Posted by Justin Havre on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 12:29pm.Spring is almost here and the market is going to pick up some momentum as winter in coming to an end. Over the past few years the spring period is when the sales-to-active-listings ratio is the highest. Historically this is higher in March than most months. With our current listing inventory of Active MLS listings on the Calgary Real Estate Board is just under 10,000 listings it is going to be a great selection of product for the people that are in the market to buy. Buyers do not have to make a decision on the spot and they can really look around for a house that will suit their wants and needs. Best of all, they get to negotiate a price that is more desirable to them.
Sellers in this market have to make sure that they most importantly price their home competitive, this is now more important than ever. Not only is the price important but the sellers to make sure that the property is in immaculate condition. It is a good idea to go over the property with your Realtor before you put your home up for sale on to the MLS. The less negatives a buyer sees when they go through your home the better it is, and the first person that walks through your house, could be the buyer that buys your home.
I will touch more on what buyers and sellers should be looking for and doing in this market in my blog in the next couple of weeks.
